Other Notes:
This course is aimed at anyone who is working with the bereaved on a regular basis – whether as counsellors, therapists, listeners, grief guides, befrienders, or support workers. With the significant increase in suicide numbers in our society over recent years, it is a strong possibility that, if you are working with the bereaved in some capacity, then you may encounter someone who has been bereaved in this way.
Bereavement by suicide is, arguably, the most difficult of all bereavements to deal with, due to its shear complexity. It contains unique dynamics, nuances and societal responses not found with any other type of bereavement.
This course aims to raise awareness, relate experiences and offer informed views around the emotional, mental, practical and societal aspects of grief through this particular type of death.
