Other Notes:

For counsellors and psychotherapists who work with the bereaved, their clients will have lost loved ones in one of two ways – suddenly (heart attack, stroke, aneurism, accident, suicide or even homicide, OR after a short-term or longer serious illness. If it is the latter, then the client will most likely have experienced some form of Anticipatory Grief and will, perhaps, want to talk about aspects of the experience.

For carers, caregivers, palliative care staff, nursing staff and medical staff involved with seriously-ill and terminally-ill individuals, they will encounter the anticipatory grief of the dying person, their family and, even, themselves. While it has similarities to Post-Death Grief, there are a number of significant differences, and Anticipatory Grief is an experience often under-acknowledged and undervalued.

This course offers a comprehensive, informative and challenging exploration of Anticipatory Grief – highlighting the impact on the dying, their families & loved ones, and their professional carers. In addition, it looks closely at the later impact on the Post-Death Grief of the bereaved family.
