“The art of holding space brings warmth to the freezing. It thaws the heart and softens the harsh and violent edge of fear. The act of holding space creates a circle of care around the individual that says I see you and I bear witness to your journey.”

Welcome to the Neil H Campbell website

My name is Neil and I’m a Specialist Grief Practitioner – Trainer, Counsellor, Podcaster, Researcher, Supervisor & Mentor.

I also deliver accredited training in Compassionate Leadership, Workplace Assertiveness and Core Interpersonal Skills for middle managers; Post-Critical Incident Debriefing & Defusing; and Relationship & Workplace Mediation.

The way I work centres around two key aims. The first is to establish a constructive, warm, trusting, and mutually-respectful relationship with all of my clients. The second is to provide an environment in which they can make sense of their world, explore & address issues, disclose feelings & emotions, enhance self-awareness and enrich knowledge.

Supporting the bereaved, the dying and their families is slightly different – in that my role is around holding space for them, companioning them and sharing their pain & darkness. I’ve been engaged in this work for over thirty years, and I’m as passionate about it now as when I first started.  Moreover, it remains an absolute privilege and honour to work with everyone of my clients.

And all of the above is underpinned by those core values that have so much meaning and connection for me – Authenticity, Passion, Compassion, Kindness, Service and Humility.

While based in Gateshead and Newcastle, my services are delivered throughout the North-East and across all workplace sectors. Most of this is delivered face-to-face, but it can be through the medium of Zoom.

Reviews

I am extremely proud of the support I have been able to offer my clients over the years. Check out what some of them have to say below.

Alison Faraday - Online CounsellingSupervision Course
"I had many fears and uncertainties before I started this course but I can safely say that I feel as though every aspect of supervision was addressed and I now feel that I am ready to step into this new role. A fantastic course, I highly recommend it."
LucyClient
“You encouraged me to pick up my brushes again, and for sometime I just didn’t have it in me. But, the day I walked out of your office for the last time, some type of magic had in fact happened – even if I didn’t know it right away.”
JennyClient
“I have found Neil and the service to be compassionate, caring and, most importantly for me, dedicated to understanding and helping me to process my grief at my pace rather than pushing me to “get better” or “move on”. Neil has helped me through the most challenging time in my life and I will be forever grateful.”
Alison Faraday - Online CounsellingCertificate in Working with Those Bereaved by Suicide
"Neil's knowledge in this area is second to none. He has a way of sharing relevant experiences which helps to embed the learning more easily. I feel much more comfortable with the whole aspect of suicide."
Alison Faraday - Online CounsellingCertificate in Awareness & Support for Bereaved Children & Young People
"Neil is so knowledgeable about grief in general but shares experiences which help the learning process. The techniques and the knowledge I have gained on this course has really informed my practice with children but surprisingly with adults as well."
